Meet Sunday

Sunday Cummins is a literacy consultant and author. She has a Doctorate of Philosophy from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana and a Master of Arts degree from Teachers College, Columbia University in Curriculum and Instruction. She taught at National Louis University from 2007-2012 in the Reading Program and she worked in the public schools for ten years prior to that as a middle school and third grade classroom teacher and as a literacy coach. Her books Close Reading of Informational Text: Assessment-Driven Instruction in Grades 3-8 and Unpacking Complexity in Informational Texts: Principles and Practices for Grades 2-8 , both published by Guilford Press, are available on Amazon.com . She has a forthcoming book about teaching students to read multiple informational texts on the same topic, published by Heinemann, coming out in Winter 2018. Sunday also continues to teach and learn alongside educators and students as a literacy consultant and researcher with a focus

Fox Valley Reading Council Winter Event: App it! With Moira Arzich and Beth Herrig Moira Arzich has been in education for 27 years.  She has taught in elementary and middle school levels and was a administrator as well.  Beth Herrig is in her 25th year of teaching.  In her tenure she has taught at the elementary, middle and high school levels in both special education and as a reading specialist.  Moira and Beth met each other 20 years ago and were both teachers in the same school.  They went on to work together as administrators in the same school as well.  They remained friends as their professional careers took them into different directions.  They both have a love of teaching with technology and have been presenting together on this topic for over 5 years for the Illinois Reading Conference as well as districts in Illinois.   App it!
